Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Steel, Insurance and Chemical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.00%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Comsys Holdings Corp. (T:1721), which rose 6.98% or 120.0 points to trade at 1839.0 at the close. Meanwhile, The Chiba Bank, Ltd. (T:8331) added 6.50% or 32.0 points to end at 524.0 and Mitsubishi Logistics Corp. (T:9301) was up 5.44% or 81.0 points to 1570.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toyobo Co., Ltd. (T:3101), which fell 11.86% or 23.0 points to trade at 171.0 at the close. Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) declined 9.04% or 45.0 points to end at 453.0 and DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432) was down 8.20% or 217.0 points to 2429.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1262 to 652 and 143 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.78% to 21.51 a new 6-months low.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.14% or 0.48 to $41.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.17% or 0.52 to hit $43.77 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.19% or 2.65 to trade at $1370.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.17% to 101.05, while EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 112.57.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 95.64.
