Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Glass and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 2.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976), which rose 7.18% or 66.0 points to trade at 985.0 at the close. Meanwhile, JTEKT Corp. (T:6473) added 7.06% or 103.0 points to end at 1561.0 and Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770) was up 6.92% or 144.0 points to 2225.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332), which fell 3.63% or 16.0 points to trade at 425.0 at the close. Aeon Co., Ltd. (T:8267) declined 2.14% or 31.5 points to end at 1440.0 and Meiji Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:2269) was down 1.36% or 130.0 points to 9400.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1601 to 387 and 68 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.05% to 23.53.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.66% or 0.79 to $46.85 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.50% or 0.75 to hit $49.40 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.39% or 5.15 to trade at $1320.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.54% to 102.35, while EUR/JPY rose 0.57% to 114.61.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.55.
