Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Rubber and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nitto Denko Co (TOKYO:6988), which rose 5.74% or 431.0 points to trade at 7935.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5232) added 4.96% or 21.0 points to end at 444.0 and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TOKYO:7211) was up 4.50% or 42.0 points to 975.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Maruha Nichiro Corp (TOKYO:1333), which fell 4.02% or 69.0 points to trade at 1649.0 at the close. Hitachi Zosen Corp. (TOKYO:7004) declined 3.83% or 24.0 points to end at 603.0 and Nitto Boseki Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:3110) was down 3.57% or 13.0 points to 351.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 964 to 907.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.80% to 33.81.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.83% or 0.82 to $45.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.34% or 0.64 to hit $48.33 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.47% or 5.20 to trade at $1108.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.09% to 120.03, while EUR/JPY fell 0.04% to 134.13.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 96.36.
