Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 2.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which rose 6.07% or 0.0161 points to trade at 0.2813 at the close. Meanwhile, Yoox Net-A-Porter Group SpA (MI:YNAP) added 3.23% or 0.65 points to end at 20.75 and Italcementi (MI:ITAI) was down 0.09% or 0.010 points to 10.580 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT), which fell 10.81% or 0.0790 points to trade at 0.6515 at the close. Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) declined 7.14% or 0.208 points to end at 2.704 and Banco Popolare Sc (MI:BAPO) was down 6.15% or 0.1230 points to 1.8770.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 356 to 46 and 15 ended unchanged.
Shares in Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT) fell to 52-week lows; losing 10.81% or 0.0790 to 0.6515. Shares in Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) fell to 3-years lows; losing 7.14% or 0.208 to 2.704. Shares in Banco Popolare Sc (MI:BAPO) fell to all time lows; losing 6.15% or 0.1230 to 1.8770.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.03% or 0.48 to $47.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.77% or 0.37 to hit $48.33 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.65% or 8.85 to trade at $1367.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1089, while EUR/GBP rose 0.76% to 0.8569.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 96.20.
