Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 12.18% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Italcementi (MI:ITAI), which fell 0.66% or 0.070 points to trade at 10.480 at the close. Meanwhile, Luxottica Group (MI:LUX) fell 3.33% or 1.56 points to end at 45.30 and Campari (MI:CPRI) was down 4.27% or 0.37 points to 8.29 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII), which fell 24.61% or 1.140 points to trade at 3.492 at the close. Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII) declined 24.28% or 0.1219 points to end at 0.3801 and Unicredit (MI:CRDI) was down 23.79% or 0.6480 points to 2.0760.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 405 to 20 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII) fell to 3-years lows; falling 24.61% or 1.140 to 3.492. Shares in Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII) fell to 52-week lows; losing 24.28% or 0.1219 to 0.3801. Shares in Unicredit (MI:CRDI) fell to all time lows; falling 23.79% or 0.6480 to 2.0760.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 4.75% or 2.38 to $47.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 4.79% or 2.44 to hit $48.47 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 4.49% or 56.75 to trade at $1319.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 2.29% to 1.1122, while EUR/GBP rose 6.55% to 0.8152.
The US Dollar Index was up 2.38% at 95.55.
