Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemicals, Financials and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII), which rose 1.80% or 0.0061 points to trade at 0.3458 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Popolare Sc (MI:BAPO) added 1.58% or 0.034 points to end at 2.190 and Mediaset (MI:MS) was up 1.00% or 0.036 points to 3.620 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unicredit (MI:CRDI), which fell 6.41% or 0.1800 points to trade at 2.6300 at the close. CNH Industrial NV (MI:CNHI) declined 2.78% or 0.230 points to end at 8.040 and Intesa Sanpaolo (MI:ISP) was down 2.63% or 0.064 points to 2.366.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 181 to 154 and 24 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 2.02% or 1.07 to $51.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.72% or 0.96 to hit $54.76 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.57% or 6.60 to trade at $1165.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.0667, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8395.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 100.79.
