Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Chemicals and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MI:SPMI), which rose 1.05% or 0.0055 points to trade at 0.5270 at the close. Meanwhile, Brembo (MI:BRBI) added 0.53% or 0.30 points to end at 56.40 and Salvatore Ferragamo (MI:SFER) was up 0.22% or 0.05 points to 22.34 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UBI Banca (MI:UBI), which fell 3.32% or 0.0920 points to trade at 2.6820 at the close. Telecom Italia (MI:TLIT) declined 3.16% or 0.0275 points to end at 0.8425 and Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII) was down 2.65% or 0.0102 points to 0.3740.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 190 to 125 and 26 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.46% or 0.25 to $54.15 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.35% or 0.20 to hit $57.03 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.45 to trade at $1139.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.73% to 1.0379, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8496.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 103.52.
