Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 lost 0.42%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were STMicroelectronics (MI:STM), which rose 8.14% or 0.910 points to trade at 12.090 at the close. Meanwhile, Exor NV (MI:EXOR) added 1.83% or 0.79 points to end at 43.97 and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MI:FCHA) was up 1.18% or 0.120 points to 10.330 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Bpm (MI:BAMI), which fell 3.96% or 0.118 points to trade at 2.864 at the close. Mediobanca (MI:MDBI) declined 3.19% or 0.280 points to end at 8.505 and Yoox Net-A-Porter Group SpA (MI:YNAP) was down 2.42% or 0.59 points to 23.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 200 to 142 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in STMicroelectronics (MI:STM) rose to 5-year highs; up 8.14% or 0.910 to 12.090.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 2.24% or 1.18 to $53.93 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.40% or 1.32 to hit $56.40 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.02% or 12.25 to trade at $1185.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.81% to 1.0664, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.8478.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.76% at 100.67.
