Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB fell 2.76% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Banca Monte Paschi Siena (MILAN:BMPS), which rose 4.59% or 0.0255 points to trade at 0.5805 at the close. Meanwhile, Saipem (MILAN:SPMI) added 2.08% or 0.25 points to end at 12.25 and Ansaldo STS (MILAN:STS) was down 0.26% or 0.03 points to 9.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UnipolSai Assicurazioni SpA (MILAN:US), which fell 4.89% or 0.122 points to trade at 2.372 at the close. Mediaset (MILAN:MS) declined 4.68% or 0.218 points to end at 4.442 and Telecom Italia (MILAN:TLIT) was down 4.41% or 0.048 points to 1.040.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 413 to 68 and 1 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.28% or 1.93 to $60.86 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 2.48% or 1.65 to hit $68.09 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.67% or 7.90 to trade at $1194.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1188, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.7366.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 95.21.
