Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Financials and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 added 1.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banco Popolare Sc (MI:BAPO), which rose 7.10% or 0.1740 points to trade at 2.6240 at the close. Meanwhile, Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII) added 5.66% or 0.0235 points to end at 0.4387 and Leonardo Finmeccanica SpA (MI:LDOF) was up 3.93% or 0.355 points to 9.385 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anima Holding SpA (MI:ANIM), which fell 2.07% or 0.10 points to trade at 4.54 at the close. UnipolSai Assicurazioni SpA (MI:US) declined 1.13% or 0.017 points to end at 1.485 and Mediaset (MI:MS) was down 0.45% or 0.016 points to 3.514.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 241 to 168 and 20 ended unchanged.
Shares in Anima Holding SpA (MI:ANIM) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.07% or 0.10 to 4.54. Shares in UnipolSai Assicurazioni SpA (MI:US) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.13% or 0.017 to 1.485.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.68% or 0.33 to $48.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.28% or 0.64 to hit $49.19 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.08% or 1.05 to trade at $1287.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.1239, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.7933.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 94.83.
