Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Financials and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 added 1.09% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Banca Pop Emilia Romagna (MI:EMII), which rose 8.02% or 0.304 points to trade at 4.094 at the close. Meanwhile, Tenaris (MI:TENR) added 4.11% or 0.62 points to end at 15.69 and UBI Banca (MI:UBI) was up 3.80% or 0.0800 points to 2.1880 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS), which fell 3.69% or 0.7900 points to trade at 20.6100 at the close. Snam (MI:SRG) declined 3.56% or 0.130 points to end at 3.524 and Recordati (MI:RECI) was down 3.43% or 0.88 points to 24.81.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 219 to 181 and 28 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tenaris (MI:TENR) rose to 52-week highs; rising 4.11% or 0.62 to 15.69.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 4.37% or 2.16 to $51.60 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 4.73% or 2.45 to hit $54.29 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.55% or 6.45 to trade at $1167.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.0627, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8444.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 101.28.
