Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction, Telecoms and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 2.37% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Euro Reliance (AT:EREr), which rose 11.43% or 0.200 points to trade at 1.950 at the close. Meanwhile, Kleeman Hellas (AT:KLEr) added 7.41% or 0.120 points to end at 1.740 and Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) was up 6.70% or 0.0150 points to 0.2390 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which fell 9.76% or 0.0830 points to trade at 0.7670 at the close. Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) declined 6.63% or 0.049 points to end at 0.690 and Select Textile (AT:EPIr) was down 6.60% or 0.013 points to 0.184.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 70 to 26 and 13 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.17% or 2.15 to $1285.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.41% or 0.20 to hit $48.69 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.12% or 0.06 to trade at $49.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.31% to 1.1242, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.7921.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.28% at 94.76.
