Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Utilities, Basic Resources and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 0.67%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Select Textile (AT:EPIr), which rose 13.86% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.115 at the close. Meanwhile, Greek Organisation of Football Prognostics SA (AT:OPAr) added 6.00% or 0.360 points to end at 6.360 and Grivalia Properties REIC (AT:GRIr) was up 3.24% or 0.22 points to 7.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr), which fell 6.67% or 0.008 points to trade at 0.112 at the close. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 6.12% or 0.0120 points to end at 0.1770 and Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr) was down 5.49% or 0.010 points to 0.172.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 46 to 44 and 19 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.62% or 8.15 to $1326.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.51% or 1.20 to hit $49.05 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.44% or 1.20 to trade at $50.46 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.1113, while EUR/GBP fell 0.83% to 0.8224.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 95.76.
