Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Travel, Telecoms and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 2.24% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which rose 9.78% or 0.0900 points to trade at 1.0100 at the close. Meanwhile, Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) added 8.76% or 0.058 points to end at 0.720 and Athens Water (AT:EYDr) was up 6.31% or 0.35 points to 5.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were FHL I Kiriakidis Marbles and Granites SA (AT:KRKr), which fell 10.56% or 0.300 points to trade at 2.790 at the close. Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) declined 3.61% or 0.006 points to end at 0.160 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) was down 2.22% or 0.010 points to 0.440.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 73 to 36 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.78% or 0.0900 to 1.0100. Shares in Papoutsanis (AT:PSALr) fell to all time lows; losing 3.61% or 0.006 to 0.160.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.03% or 0.35 to $1216.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.95% or 0.47 to hit $49.80 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.28% or 0.14 to trade at $50.50 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1138, while EUR/GBP rose 0.57% to 0.7652.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 95.76.
