Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Retail and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 1.96%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 10.27% or 0.019 points to trade at 0.204 at the close. Meanwhile, Reds (AT:CAMr) added 8.43% or 0.028 points to end at 0.360 and Halcor (AT:XAKO) was up 7.29% or 0.018 points to 0.265 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Frigoglass (AT:FRIr), which fell 4.96% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.46 at the close. ThesKi Water (AT:TWSr) declined 4.36% or 0.13 points to end at 2.85 and J. & P. Avax (AT:AVAr) was down 4.15% or 0.012 points to 0.277.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 62 to 38 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Frigoglass (AT:FRIr) fell to all time lows; falling 4.96% or 0.02 to 0.46.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.48% or 5.90 to $1227.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.43% or 1.35 to hit $38.04 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 3.01% or 1.23 to trade at $39.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1193, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.7843.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 95.96.
