Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Telecoms and Basic Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.43%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 6.71% or 0.011 points to trade at 0.175 at the close. Meanwhile, Centric Hold (AT:DESr) added 5.56% or 0.005 points to end at 0.095 and Reds (AT:CAMr) was up 4.84% or 0.015 points to 0.325 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Halcor (AT:XAKO), which fell 7.75% or 0.020 points to trade at 0.238 at the close. Iaso (AT:IASr) declined 7.62% or 0.033 points to end at 0.400 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) was down 5.63% or 0.040 points to 0.662.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 65 to 25 and 10 ended unchanged.
Gold for April delivery was down 2.03% or 25.30 to $1223.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.23% or 1.34 to hit $40.11 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.66% or 1.11 to trade at $40.68 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1171, while EUR/GBP rose 0.34% to 0.7922.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 96.15.
