Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Insurance and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 1.40%.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr), which rose 7.61% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.49 at the close. Meanwhile, Public Power (AT:DEHr) added 7.05% or 0.34 points to end at 5.08 and Hell.Exchanges (AT:EXCr) was up 6.43% or 0.32 points to 5.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Autohellas (AT:AUTr), which fell 17.27% or 1.90 points to trade at 9.10 at the close. Dromeas (AT:DROr) declined 16.67% or 0.024 points to end at 0.120 and Attica Bank (AT:BOAr) was down 9.37% or 0.003 points to 0.029.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 54 to 42 and 3 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1146.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $48.53 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.30 to trade at $52.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.1252, while EUR/GBP fell 0.83% to 0.7342.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 95.54.
