Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Oil & Gas Producers sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.97%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Klepierre (PA:LOIM), which rose 0.95% or 0.40 points to trade at 42.14 at the close. Meanwhile, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 0.92% or 0.57 points to end at 62.37 and Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) was up 0.65% or 0.57 points to 87.63 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Technip (PA:TECF), which fell 3.57% or 1.86 points to trade at 50.19 at the close. Accor SA (PA:ACCP) declined 2.83% or 1.13 points to end at 38.77 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) was down 2.39% or 0.97 points to 39.81.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Neopost (PA:NPOS) which rose 3.18% to 21.77, Ingenico Group (PA:INGC) which was up 2.08% to settle at 102.85 and Edenred (PA:EDEN) which gained 1.26% to close at 17.25.
The worst performers were CGG (PA:GEPH) which was down 10.59% to 0.7600 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 5.40% to settle at 3.557 and Technip (PA:TECF) which was down 3.57% to 50.19 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 434 to 230 and 103 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 10.10% to 25.23 a new 1-month high.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.92% or 11.65 to $1273.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.25% or 0.64 to hit $50.59 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.53 to trade at $51.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1318, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7823.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 94.02.
