Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.04%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Atos SE (PA:ATOS), which rose 1.89% or 1.22 points to trade at 65.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) added 1.67% or 1.40 points to end at 85.09 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 1.60% or 0.23 points to 14.57 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Total SA (PA:TOTF), which fell 1.89% or 0.92 points to trade at 47.74 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.78% or 0.232 points to end at 12.780 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) was down 1.75% or 0.28 points to 16.04.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which rose 4.24% to 105.60, SES (PA:SESFd) which was up 3.68% to settle at 15.78 and Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which gained 3.31% to close at 38.060.
The worst performers were Groupe FNAC (PA:FNAC) which was down 4.01% to 57.400 in late trade, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which lost 3.62% to settle at 16.500 and Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was down 3.40% to 47.40 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 308 to 253 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.67% or 1.40 to 85.09. Shares in Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.60% or 0.23 to 14.57. Shares in Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.31% or 1.220 to 38.060.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 3.49% to 15.53.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.69% or 10.55 to $1542.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.52% or 1.48 to hit $57.16 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.66% or 1.72 to trade at $63.05 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1015, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8820.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 97.963.
