France stocks higher at close of trade

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Beverages sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 0.72%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.65%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vinci SA (PARIS:SGEF), which rose 3.69% or 1.60 points to trade at 45.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Airbus Group (PARIS:AIR) added 2.60% or 1.11 points to end at 43.73 and Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) was up 2.27% or 0.91 points to 40.83 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were EDF (PARIS:EDF), which fell 1.72% or 0.38 points to trade at 21.37 at the close. BNP Paribas Act. A (PARIS:BNPP) declined 1.67% or 0.77 points to end at 45.03 and Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) was down 1.42% or 0.145 points to 10.055.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eiffage (PARIS:FOUG) which rose 4.20% to 41.69, Vinci SA (PARIS:SGEF) which was up 3.69% to settle at 45.00 and AB Science (PARIS:ABS) which gained 3.43% to close at 12.950.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which was down 3.12% to 20.16 in late trade, Air France KLM SA (PARIS:AIRF) which lost 2.88% to settle at 7.728 and Soitec (PARIS:SOIT) which was down 2.88% to 1.010 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 471 to 405 and 67 ended unchanged.

Shares in EDF (PARIS:EDF) fell to 52 weeks lows; down 1.72% or 0.38 to 21.37.
Shares in BNP Paribas Act. A (PARIS:BNPP) fell to 52 weeks lows; falling 1.67% or 0.77 to 45.03.
Shares in Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) fell to 5 years lows; down 3.12% or 0.65 to 20.16.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.26% to 25.91.

Gold for February delivery was down 0.49% or 6.00 to $1213.40 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude oil for delivery in February rose 1.84% or 0.88 to hit $48.81 a barrel, while the February brent oil contract rose 0.09% or 0.04 to trade at $51.15 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.56% to 1.1824, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.7844.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 92.36.
