European shares Closed lower On Global Growth Worries...

The shares of the 17-nation Euro zone extended its slump throughout Monday’s trading session, amid concerns Europe’s debt crisis will gloomily halt emerging signs about a global economical rebound.

The benchmark index for Europe, the STOXX 600 ended lower by 1.13% to settle at 223.62, and STOXX 50 ended down by 1.01% at 2137.81.

The leading benchmark indexes performed as the following:

CAC 40 Index

The French index fell 55.13 points or 1.85% to finally close at 2926.83. The index started the session at 2913.07 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 2946.38 and its lowest level at 2888.83.

The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the Total SA share as it plummeted 2.08% to end at €32.54, following is the BNP Paribas SA share as it shed 4.64% to settle at €28.68, while coming in third is the Societe Generale SA share which slumped 5.15% to close at €18.97.

Best performing stocks within the index were the Pernod-Ricard SA share which inclined 3.45% to settle at €60.86, in second place came the ArcelorMittal share which closed higher by 0.50% at €12.14 and in the third place came the Safran SA share which inclined 0.69% to settle at €23.33.

DAX Index

German equities retreated today as the benchmark index DAX 30 closed the session lower by 125.32 points or 2.28% at 5376.70. The index started the session at 5311.93 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 5437.74 and its lowest level at 5289.04.

The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the Commerzbank AG share as it plummeted 7.27% to end at €1.76, following is the BMW AG share as it shed 5.69% to settle at €47.12, while coming in third is the K+S AG share which slumped 5.38% to close at €37.45.

By closing, The German Benchmark did not witness any inclining shares.

FTSE 100 Index

The British benchmark index ended the day lower to settle at 5075.50 with a loss of 52.98 points or 1.03%. The index started the session at 5128.48 and recorded throughout the day its highest level at 5128.48 and its lowest level at 4983.28.

The worst performing shares in terms of subtracted value for the index were led by the HSBC Holding PLC share as it plummeted 1.87% to end at £487.60, following is the Standard Chartered AG share as it shed 4.47% to settle at £1229.50, while coming in third is the Royal Dutch Shell PLC share which slumped 1.70% to close at £1966.00.

Best performing stocks within the index were the Vodafone Group PLC share which inclined 1.38% to settle at £168.55, in second place came the British American Tobacco PLC share which closed higher by 1.15% at £2760.00 and in the third place came the Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC share which inclined 1.74% to settle at £3330.00.
