Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Public Utilities, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 2.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4), which rose 4.19% or 0.22 points to trade at 5.47 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 4.03% or 0.12 points to end at 3.10 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 3.77% or 0.53 points to 14.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which fell 8.70% or 4.16 points to trade at 43.68 at the close. Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) declined 8.17% or 0.34 points to end at 3.82 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was down 7.11% or 0.56 points to 7.32.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 224 to 69 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) fell to all time lows; down 8.17% or 0.34 to 3.82. Shares in ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) fell to 5-year lows; losing 7.11% or 0.56 to 7.32.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 14.65% to 55.32 a new 6-months high.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.63% or 7.10 to $1139.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 7.91% or 3.89 to hit $45.31 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.57% or 3.20 to trade at $121.15 .
USD/BRL was up 1.75% to 3.6884, while EUR/BRL rose 2.62% to 4.1707.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.61% at 95.38.
