Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Electric Power, Public Utilities and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.95%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which rose 2.99% or 0.19 points to trade at 6.55 at the close. Meanwhile, ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) added 1.56% or 0.05 points to end at 3.25 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) was up 1.44% or 0.17 points to 11.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which fell 9.38% or 0.15 points to trade at 1.45 at the close. CCR SA (SA:CCRO3) declined 7.01% or 0.99 points to end at 13.13 and Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) was down 6.30% or 0.99 points to 14.72.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 191 to 93 and 20 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.07% to 56.59.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.37% or 4.50 to $1225.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 5.18% or 1.86 to hit $37.75 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract rose 0.31% or 0.37 to trade at $121.42 .
USD/BRL was down 1.04% to 3.6401, while EUR/BRL fell 0.94% to 4.1484.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 94.52.
