Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 1.72%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3), which rose 2.27% or 0.72 points to trade at 32.47 at the close. Meanwhile, Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) added 2.06% or 1.230 points to end at 60.800 and BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3) was up 1.95% or 0.52 points to 27.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3), which fell 5.51% or 0.63 points to trade at 10.80 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) declined 5.08% or 0.47 points to end at 8.78 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was down 4.78% or 1.17 points to 23.30.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 196 to 90 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.78% or 1.17 to 23.30.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.07% to 42.22.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.53% or 7.00 to $1329.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.97% or 0.94 to hit $46.70 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.70% or 0.96 to trade at $136.02 .
USD/BRL was up 0.50% to 3.3909, while EUR/BRL fell 0.35% to 3.7376.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.98% at 96.57.
