Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4), which rose 3.88% or 0.36 points to trade at 9.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) added 3.59% or 0.53 points to end at 15.29 and WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) was up 2.59% or 0.47 points to 18.65 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vale SA (SA:VALE3), which fell 6.20% or 1.74 points to trade at 26.32 at the close. Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) declined 5.67% or 1.15 points to end at 19.15 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was down 5.56% or 1.35 points to 22.95.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 183 to 168 and 35 ended unchanged.
Shares in WEG SA (SA:WEGE3) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.59% or 0.47 to 18.65.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.03% to 30.21.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.40% or 17.60 to $1239.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.27% or 0.13 to hit $47.53 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.70% or 0.95 to trade at $137.12 .
USD/BRL was up 0.49% to 3.1669, while EUR/BRL rose 0.09% to 3.4477.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.45% at 99.22.
