Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3), which rose 5.37% or 1.06 points to trade at 20.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) added 3.94% or 0.23 points to end at 6.07 and Banco Santander Brasil SA Unit (SA:SANB11) was up 3.37% or 0.82 points to 25.18 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which fell 4.43% or 0.19 points to trade at 4.10 at the close. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 4.32% or 0.33 points to end at 7.31 and Vale SA Pref (SA:VALE5) was down 3.86% or 1.02 points to 25.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 182 to 173 and 24 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.04% to 34.90.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.03% or 0.40 to $1291.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.59% or 0.31 to hit $52.34 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 1.12% or 1.61 to trade at $145.18 .
USD/BRL was up 0.34% to 3.1108, while EUR/BRL rose 0.04% to 3.3382.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.79% at 99.41.
