Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 2.63% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 7.50% or 0.18 points to trade at 2.58 at the close. Meanwhile, Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) added 6.47% or 1.98 points to end at 32.60 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) was up 6.00% or 0.58 points to 10.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 2.88% or 0.35 points to trade at 11.79 at the close. JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) declined 2.13% or 0.20 points to end at 9.20 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was down 1.72% or 0.57 points to 32.63.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 206 to 83 and 21 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.11% to 40.27 a new 3-months low.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.37% or 4.60 to $1248.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.88% or 1.27 to hit $45.31 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 3.22% or 4.05 to trade at $121.67 .
USD/BRL was down 0.07% to 3.5267, while EUR/BRL rose 0.02% to 3.9899.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 94.43.
