Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 2.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Vale SA (SA:VALE3), which rose 7.30% or 2.11 points to trade at 31.01 at the close. Meanwhile, ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) added 6.80% or 0.42 points to end at 6.60 and Vale SA (SA:VALE5) was up 6.34% or 1.64 points to 27.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3), which fell 1.22% or 0.11 points to trade at 8.92 at the close. MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) declined 0.70% or 0.08 points to end at 11.37 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was down 0.59% or 0.10 points to 16.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 226 to 164 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Vale SA (SA:VALE3) rose to 52-week highs; rising 7.30% or 2.11 to 31.01. Shares in Vale SA (SA:VALE5) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.34% or 1.64 to 27.50.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.48% to 37.86.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.07% or 12.60 to $1191.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.89% or 0.87 to hit $46.93 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.73% or 1.13 to trade at $156.93 .
USD/BRL was down 1.10% to 3.3843, while EUR/BRL fell 1.08% to 3.5855.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 101.37.
