Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.36%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 12.43% or 3.37 points to trade at 30.49 at the close. Meanwhile, JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) added 6.39% or 0.58 points to end at 9.65 and Cyrela Brazil Realty SA (SA:CYRE3) was up 5.49% or 0.49 points to 9.42 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which fell 4.09% or 1.76 points to trade at 41.29 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) declined 3.16% or 0.23 points to end at 7.06 and Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) was down 2.67% or 1.35 points to 49.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 193 to 165 and 23 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.78% to 43.28.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.60% or 7.05 to $1176.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.12% or 0.57 to hit $51.63 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.48% or 0.70 to trade at $145.82 .
USD/BRL was up 0.20% to 3.4786, while EUR/BRL rose 0.26% to 3.7106.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 100.80.
