Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 6.77% or 1.38 points to trade at 21.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 4.61% or 0.44 points to end at 9.99 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was up 3.71% or 0.80 points to 22.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3), which fell 4.10% or 1.05 points to trade at 24.55 at the close. Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) declined 3.14% or 0.72 points to end at 22.20 and Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3) was down 2.73% or 0.74 points to 26.36.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 163 to 129 and 25 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.43% to 32.43.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.06% or 0.85 to $1342.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.74% or 0.35 to hit $47.76 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.81% or 1.18 to trade at $147.18 .
USD/BRL was up 0.98% to 3.2321, while EUR/BRL rose 0.85% to 3.6552.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 94.49.
