Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 1.65%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3), which rose 5.75% or 1.53 points to trade at 28.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) added 4.62% or 0.47 points to end at 10.65 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was up 4.26% or 1.26 points to 30.86 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which fell 2.30% or 0.21 points to trade at 8.92 at the close. Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) declined 1.31% or 0.86 points to end at 64.99 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3) was down 1.56% or 0.70 points to 44.30.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 250 to 156 and 39 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.50% to 34.71.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.51% or 6.40 to $1249.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.71% or 0.52 to hit $73.28 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.28% or 1.50 to trade at $115.88 .
USD/BRL was up 0.01% to 3.8613, while EUR/BRL rose 0.12% to 4.4661.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 95.03.
