Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 3.03% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were bpost NV (BRU:BPOST), which rose 0.24% or 0.06 points to trade at 22.66 at the close. Meanwhile, DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) fell 0.26% or 0.090 points to end at 34.000 and Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) was down 0.78% or 0.460 points to 58.700 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which fell 7.81% or 1.03 points to trade at 12.13 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) declined 4.54% or 1.31 points to end at 27.54 and KBC (BRU:KBC) was down 4.53% or 2.890 points to 60.880.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 152 to 15 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) fell to 52-week lows; losing 7.81% or 1.03 to 12.13.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.33% or 14.70 to $1122.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.05% or 0.02 to hit $43.06 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.17 to trade at $49.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.37% to 1.1193, while EUR/GBP rose 0.89% to 0.7156.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.18% at 96.08.
