Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 1.89%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which rose 0.29% or 0.04 points to trade at 15.72 at the close. Meanwhile, Ageas (BRU:AGES) fell 0.79% or 0.290 points to end at 36.615 and Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB) was down 0.87% or 0.69 points to 78.64 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI), which fell 3.02% or 3.45 points to trade at 110.70 at the close. GDF Suez SA (PARIS:GSZ) declined 2.81% or 0.49 points to end at 16.88 and DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) was down 2.75% or 0.890 points to 31.480.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 145 to 25 and 4 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.99% or 10.70 to $1096.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.33% or 0.64 to hit $47.50 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 0.94 to trade at $53.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 1.15% to 1.1111, while EUR/GBP rose 0.78% to 0.7132.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.86% at 96.50.
