Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Financials and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 lost 0.47%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 1.30% or 0.580 points to trade at 45.300 at the close. Meanwhile, NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 0.82% or 0.30 points to end at 36.87 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 0.56% or 0.65 points to 116.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which fell 1.86% or 0.53 points to trade at 28.00 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 1.51% or 0.745 points to end at 48.440 and Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) was down 1.21% or 1.12 points to 91.21.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 74 to 72 and 10 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.55% or 6.95 to $1281.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.22% or 0.58 to hit $48.30 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.82% or 0.40 to trade at $49.37 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1339, while EUR/GBP fell 0.38% to 0.7831.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 94.35.
