Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Elia (BR:ELI), which rose 3.00% or 1.355 points to trade at 46.540 at the close. Meanwhile, Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 1.75% or 0.46 points to end at 26.43 and NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) was up 1.01% or 0.41 points to 41.41 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which fell 1.74% or 0.48 points to trade at 27.43 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 1.70% or 1.12 points to end at 64.77 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was down 1.19% or 0.59 points to 49.15.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 79 to 77 and 9 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.80% or 10.15 to $1273.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.29% or 0.65 to hit $49.87 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.34% or 0.69 to trade at $50.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.0894, while EUR/GBP rose 0.56% to 0.8942.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 98.67.
