Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI), which rose 2.44% or 2.60 points to trade at 109.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) added 1.61% or 1.75 points to end at 110.40 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.14% or 0.32 points to 28.32 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which fell 3.04% or 0.42 points to trade at 13.39 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 2.82% or 1.165 points to end at 40.150 and KBC (BR:KBC) was down 1.43% or 0.665 points to 45.875.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 80 to 46 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.61% or 1.75 to 110.40.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.24% or 3.10 to $1277.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.33% or 1.02 to hit $44.80 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.79% or 0.80 to trade at $45.42 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.74% to 1.1401, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.7871.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 93.77.
