Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Engie SA (PARIS:ENGIE), which rose 0.93% or 0.16 points to trade at 17.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB) added 0.59% or 0.58 points to end at 99.50 and Elia (BRU:ELI) was up 0.41% or 0.155 points to 37.515 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB), which fell 0.69% or 0.80 points to trade at 115.50 at the close. Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI) declined 0.67% or 0.70 points to end at 104.25 and Proximus NV (BRU:PROX) was down 0.52% or 0.17 points to 33.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 93 to 69 and 6 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.47% or 5.20 to $1117.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.77% or 0.33 to hit $42.78 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.12 to trade at $49.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.31% to 1.1077, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.7106.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 96.83.
