Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Telecoms and Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 1.89%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Belgacom (BRU:BCOM), which rose 4.31% or 1.38 points to trade at 33.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI) added 3.15% or 3.35 points to end at 109.60 and GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) was up 3.09% or 0.56 points to 18.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB), which fell 0.43% or 0.42 points to trade at 96.51 at the close. Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) added 0.13% or 0.07 points to end at 52.67 and UCB (BRU:UCB) was up 0.31% or 0.19 points to 61.69.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 118 to 48 and 6 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.53% or 6.30 to $1188.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.81% or 0.48 to hit $59.42 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.01% or 0.01 to trade at $65.53 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.33% to 1.1228, while EUR/GBP fell 1.62% to 0.7270.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 94.75.
