Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Utilities and Construction & Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 1.45%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BRU:COLR), which rose 3.35% or 1.40 points to trade at 43.03 at the close. Meanwhile, NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) added 2.86% or 0.66 points to end at 23.52 and Elia (BRU:ELI) was up 2.15% or 0.915 points to 43.500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb), which rose 0.51% or 0.280 points to trade at 55.070 at the close. Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) added 0.67% or 0.34 points to end at 51.27 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB) was up 0.69% or 0.90 points to 131.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 110 to 45 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Elia (BRU:ELI) rose to all time highs; rising 2.15% or 0.915 to 43.500.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.01% or 11.40 to $1115.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.22% or 0.10 to hit $45.33 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.57% or 0.28 to trade at $48.51 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1173, while EUR/GBP fell 0.55% to 0.7385.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.41% at 96.45.
