Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 3.77% or 1.67 points to trade at 45.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.89% or 0.27 points to end at 14.30 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) was up 1.72% or 1.90 points to 112.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which fell 4.54% or 2.10 points to trade at 44.02 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 4.39% or 3.10 points to end at 67.50 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was down 1.58% or 0.43 points to 26.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 73 to 67 and 12 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was up 0.24% or 3.00 to $1243.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.24% or 1.38 to hit $44.02 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.00% or 1.33 to trade at $45.65 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1307, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.7745.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.34% at 94.42.
