It invests in the public equity markets of Japan. The fund seeks to invest in the stocks of companies operating across diversified sectors. It primarily invests in the stocks of large-cap companies with market capitalization within the range of the Russell/Nomura Total Market Index. The fund seeks to track the performance of the Russell/Nomura PRIME Index, by using representative sampling methodology. It was formerly known as streetTRACKS Index Shares Funds - SPDR Russell/Nomura PRIME Japan ETF. SPDR Index Shares Funds - SPDR Russell/Nomura PRIME Japan ETF was formed on November 9, 2006 and is domiciled in the United States.
