Wandisco Plc. (LON:WAND) has announced an OEM agreement with IBM (NYSE:IBM), whereby IBM will embed an IBM-branded, customised version of Fusion into its BigInsights solution set. This is an important step as the company executes its indirect sales strategy, enabling WANdisco to leverage IBM’s global sales footprint and installed base. Our estimates do not change, but financials will be supported near term by IBM-funded development work, while royalties should start to support scalable growth from H2 onwards.
WANdisco already has partnerships with a good number of influential players in the big data/cloud platform arenas: Oracle (NYSE:ORCL), Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), Hortonworks (NASDAQ:HDP) and IBM. However, this agreement is the first whereby WANdisco’s solution is being embedded directly into the partner’s suite of solutions and branded IBM, signalling a strong commercial rationale from IBM to sell the solution and the potential to scale without incurring direct sales costs.
