While waiting for Brexit…The chart illustrates trade relationships of an economy with the United Kingdom (UK) by products (64 items): The higher the share of the UK as a destination of exports of a given product, the more the bubble is located north of the Chart. The higher the nominal value of these exports, the larger the bubble is. The higher the trade surplus with the UK for this product, the more the bubble is located east. This week, the chart is set for France.
The distribution of bubbles is not very spread out compared to other economies. The UK imports a little more than 6% of French exports of goods on average, and even 10% in some cases (many food and beverages products, paper, non-organic chemical products). Trade of goods with the UK approximately posts a surplus of 0.6 pp of GDP. Exports to the UK are particularly large for road vehicles (EUR 4.2 bn). They exceed EUR 1.5 bn each for others machinery and transport equipment products, medicinal and pharmaceutical products, beverages.
