The euro was little changed against the U.S. dollar on Monday, following its gain over the previous three sessions, amid hopes Greece is becoming closer to a bailout deal with its creditors.

A Greek official mentioned that the efforts done in negotiations with creditors could see Greece reaching a deal by Tuesday.

Greece aims to receive installments of its third bailout program before August 20, when a debt payment of 3.2 billion euros matures.

While the euro did not react positively to the Greek official’s announcement, European shares opened higher on Monday.

The euro advanced versus the dollar on Friday after the U.S. jobs report signaled a job addition of 215,000 jobs in July and unemployment stood at 5.3 percent.

As of 08:46 GMT, the euro traded at 1.0969, after hitting a high of 1.0980 and a low of 1.0949.
