The Dow Jones has confirmed a major shake-up for the index, with Goldman Sachs, Nike and Visa set to be added.
It was revealed that the trio of companies are set to replace Alcoa, Bank of America and Hewlett-Packard, who are all being dropped from the index.
According to a report by BBC News, these changes will come into effect on September 23rd.
All three of the businesses that have been selected to leave currently have low share prices, which means there is likely to be little influence on the overall index. Nike and Visa are two of the most recognisable brands in the world.
UnitedHealth was the last firm to be added to the Dow Jones a year ago, when Kraft Foods was demoted in order to make room for the company.
The Dow Jones ended yesterday's (September 10th) trading session by recording a rise in its value worth 0.85 per cent.
