Compliance & Regulation

To build a highly accessible online trading platform, Tickmill has acquired licensing and regulation in three major jurisdictions to attract investors. Tickmill is regulated by the United Kingdom’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC), and the Seychelles Financial Services Authority (FSA).  Moreover, Tickmill is registered with BaFin in Germany, CONSOB in Italy, ACPR in France, and CNMV in Spain. To comply with licensing requirements, Tickmill must adhere to all the applicable Know Your Client (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks.

Beyond these standard measures, Tickmill keeps client funds segregated from the company’s operational accounts in Tier-1 bank institutions to ensure an extra layer of security for clients.  Additionally, Tickmill has implemented advanced data security measures including encryption and regular back ups to properly protect client information and data. UK-based investors are also insured for up to GBP 85,000 through participation in the Financial Services Compensation Scheme while European traders are covered by the Investor Compensation Fund for an amount up to EUR 20,000 per account.  Furthermore, all accounts offered by Tickmill offer negative balance protection, meaning that clients are not liable for trading losses amounting to more than the capital deposited into their trading accounts.

Pricing

Beginning with the circumstances for depositing and withdrawing funds to the platform, Tickmill is very clear about the associated conditions and fees.  Credit and debit card deposits along with all electronic payment methods incur no deposit or withdrawal fees if the minimum amounts are satisfied.  The minimum deposit is $100 whereas the minimum withdrawal amount is $25.  Wire transfers depositing less than $5000 will be assessed bank fees, all of which are waived and covered by Tickmill for amounts above $5000.

In terms of trading spreads and applicable swaps, Tickmill is very upfront about the minimum spreads, the typical spreads, and also the swaps for long and short positions which are posted directly on the website itself for each corresponding asset class.  Swap and rollover-free Islamic accounts are also available upon request for clients who prefer these account types.  Additionally, margin and leverage rates are posted directly to the website for the utmost transparency about associated platform fees and charges.

Finally, there are commissions that accompany trading in the Pro and VIP Account options amounting to $2 per side for each lot and $1 per side for each lot respectively.  These commissions only pertain to a limited number of instruments, with stock indices, oil, and bonds excluded from paying trading commissions for each of these account types.  Users with Classic Accounts do not pay commissions for any trades placed on the Tickmill platform, however, the starting spreads in this account are slightly higher when compared to Pro and VIP Account types.

Reliability & Security

To ensure uninterrupted access to global financial markets, Tickmill takes great lengths to provide a secure and reliable trading experience for clients.  Apart from the technological and cybersecurity measures in place for protecting order flow, client data, and payment details, Tickmill’s trade execution model is designed to deliver maximum value for investors. It begins with the firm’s hybrid execution model that involves both market-making and straight-through processing.

The non-dealing desk model greatly eliminates the potential for conflicts of interest with client objectives and moreover, the internal measures taken to avoid conflicts goes a long way towards instilling confidence in Tickmill’s services.  Beyond the straightforward trade execution model is the high-quality execution itself.  With trades on average executed in 0.15 seconds with no-requotes, both inexperienced and professional clients can take advantage of excellent conditions for market, limit, and stop orders.

Moreover, professionals and institutions can appreciate the presence of FIX API access for even better connectivity for Expert Advisors and algorithmic strategies while institutions seeking the best conditions can explore Tickmill’s prime brokerage options.  The inclusion of negative balance protection means that clients cannot lose more than the value of their deposits. Taking all of these efforts into consideration, Tickmill stands out for demonstrating its unwavering commitment to dependably and consistently delivering steadfast access to financial markets on behalf of clients.

User Experience

One of the areas where Tickmill really excels is the emphasis on providing a streamlined yet intuitive experience that focuses on adding the most value for platform clients. The onboarding process for prospective Tickmill clients is very straightforward, involving two quick registration forms and the standard compliance procedures which verify a user’s proof of address and proof of identity documentation. Once approved, users can begin accessing all of the User Area’s functionality including the Forex Tools, AutoChartist Tool, and access to the trading platforms including a download button for MetaTrader 4 and option to the launch the Tickmill WebTrader browser platform.

In terms of investing, Tickmill is extremely focused on delivering swift execution across account types without any conflict thanks to the non-dealing desk trade execution model. Additionally, the FIX API and VPS options available support for more advanced connectivity, better uptime, and low-latency trade processing that can handle more sophisticated algorithmic strategies and Expert Advisors.  Tickmill’s focus on providing frictionless trade execution does not go unnoticed, making it an exceptional destination for engaging in any trading strategy.  Trading is handled exclusively via MetaTrader 4 desktop, web, and mobile applications, which provides a robust and reliable trading experience with all the necessary tools and features for both beginners and advanced users to thrive.

Another important distinction is Tickmill’s emphasis on knowledge. Its educational materials cover a range of different subjects, and when combined with daily Market Insights, webinars, seminars, video tutorials, regularly updated technical and fundamental analysis articles, and more, traders of all experience levels can gain valuable knowledge and wisdom for capturing opportunities and realizing returns across global markets. Should clients encounter any difficulties or have questions, the accommodating Tickmill support team is available by phone, email, and live chat Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM until 8:00 PM GMT. These knowledgeable representatives are able to provide service in 14 languages to cater to clients’ needs.  For those comfortable uncovering their own answers, the FAQ hosted on the website is full of useful information addressing common inquiries and important subjects.

A: Although leverage is capped at 30:1 for most European investors due to ESMA restrictions, individuals that can meet certain eligibility criteria as professional investors with experience are able to access leverage that stretches as high as 500:1. The criteria for applying for this status includes two of the following: demonstrating professional experience in the financial services industry, executing 10 or more trades per quarter for the prior 4 quarters, or managing an investment portfolio that matches or exceeds EUR 500,000 in assets and cash.  Simply access the Client Categorisation option in the Client Area, complete the application form, and await approval.
