You gotta commend the firm belief in the idea that the tail can wag the dog, and to the point that people are willing to put their money where their mouth is, and firmly back the proposition. That whole philosophy is what central bank actions in recent times have been all about. Good luck with that whole John Law philosophy, which does work, until it doesn't. And boy, as markets are on the cusp of discovering, when it doesn't work anymore, oh my.

The BOJ needs to grow a pair if Japan is ever to come out of its funk. Sacrificing the long term to prop up asset bubbles and zombie companies only works for so long.

Told you. Gutless BOJ. Bad enough it’s out of ammo if a really serious downturn were to hit, but endlessly pushing up asset prices and propping up zombie companies will just make it that much worse. Live for today, yolo and fomo forever, right! Nuts.

12k would take this to close to double the multidecade low, set during the GFC. Does that really seem so unreasonable considering the CAPE and market gap to GDP numbers? The answer is no.
