Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Food Producers sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial PLC (LON:PFG), which rose 15.25% or 78.00 points to trade at 589.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 3.38% or 67.20 points to end at 2057.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) was up 3.27% or 54.00 points to 1703.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Barclays PLC (LON:BARC), which fell 2.89% or 4.64 points to trade at 156.14 at the close. Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) declined 2.26% or 5.40 points to end at 233.60 and Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) was down 1.71% or 22.00 points to 1262.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1131 to 898 and 347 ended unchanged.
Shares in Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.38% or 67.20 to 2057.00.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.45% or 5.95 to $1333.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.74% or 0.42 to hit $57.38 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.12 to trade at $67.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.17% to 1.3072, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.8679.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 96.328.
