Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.13%, while the S&P 500 index lost 0.39%, and the NASDAQ Composite index declined 1.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS), which rose 6.30% or 5.78 points to trade at 97.58 at the close. Meanwhile, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:WBA) added 2.11% or 0.84 points to end at 40.59 and Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:KO) was up 1.54% or 0.94 points to 62.08 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC), which fell 3.11% or 0.93 points to trade at 28.94 at the close. UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:UNH) declined 2.42% or 12.81 points to end at 517.19 and Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) was down 2.17% or 3.28 points to 148.01.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were STERIS plc (NYSE:STE) which rose 7.05% to 177.21, Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) which was up 6.30% to settle at 97.58 and Nucor Corp (NYSE:NUE) which gained 4.94% to close at 149.04.
The worst performers were Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) which was down 6.84% to 167.87 in late trade, Estee Lauder Companies Inc (NYSE:EL) which lost 6.23% to settle at 218.92 and PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:PYPL) which was down 5.05% to 80.63 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Imago Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:IMGO) which rose 104.54% to 35.59, Neuroone Medical Technologies Corp (NASDAQ:NMTC) which was up 42.86% to settle at 1.20 and OncoSec Medical Inc (NASDAQ:ONCS) which gained 42.23% to close at 4.85.
The worst performers were TuanChe ADR (NASDAQ:TC) which was down 80.20% to 1.38 in late trade, G Medical Innovations Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:GMVD) which lost 25.14% to settle at 3.93 and Eqonex Ltd (NASDAQ:EQOS) which was down 23.89% to 0.21 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 0 to 0; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 0 fell and 0 advanced.
Shares in Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) fell to 52-week lows; down 6.84% or 12.32 to 167.87. Shares in Imago Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:IMGO) rose to all time highs; rising 104.54% or 18.19 to 35.59. Shares in TuanChe ADR (NASDAQ:TC) fell to all time lows; falling 80.20% or 5.59 to 1.38. Shares in G Medical Innovations Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ:GMVD) fell to 52-week lows; falling 25.14% or 1.32 to 3.93. Shares in Eqonex Ltd (NASDAQ:EQOS) fell to all time lows; losing 23.89% or 0.07 to 0.21.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 22.36 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.32% or 5.55 to $1,745.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.61% or 0.49 to hit $80.53 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.69 to trade at $88.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.03, while USD/JPY fell 0.19% to 141.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 107.47.
