Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transport, Insurance and Banking sectors led shares higher while losses in the Consumer Staples, Telecoms and Real Estate & Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General lost 0.21%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM), which rose 4.05% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.540 at the close. Meanwhile, National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR) added 3.21% or 0.060 points to end at 1.930 and ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) was up 2.35% or 0.100 points to 4.350 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which fell 5.56% or 0.060 points to trade at 1.020 at the close. DXB Entertainments (P.J.S.C.) (DU:DXBE) declined 2.68% or 0.030 points to end at 1.090 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) was down 2.16% or 0.011 points to 0.499.
The top performers on the ADX General were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which rose 14.86% to 3.400, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 12.85% to settle at 3.250 and Abu Dhabi National for Building Materials Co PJSC (AD:BILD) which gained 5.36% to close at 0.590.
The worst performers were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which was down 8.00% to 2.070 in late trade, Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which lost 5.29% to settle at 2.150 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 4.00% to 0.480 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 19 to 16 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 rose and 10 declined, while 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) fell to 52-week lows; falling 5.56% or 0.060 to 1.020. Shares in Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 14.86% or 0.440 to 3.400. Shares in Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) fell to 3-years lows; down 5.29% or 0.120 to 2.150.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.45% or 0.24 to $52.96 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.32% or 0.18 to hit $55.79 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.09% or 1.15 to trade at $1226.55 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.26% to 3.8749.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 101.46.
